DRY NEEDLING

DRY NEEDLING IS THE USE OF A STERILE, SINGLE-USE FILIFORM NEEDLE THAT IS INSERTED INTO A TRIGGER POINT ("KNOT") CAUSING MUSCULAR ACHES TO HELP DECREASE PAIN. THIS HELPS PROMOTE A HEALING RESPONSE IN THE BODY VIA THE NERVOUS AND IMMUNE SYSTEMS.

NEEDLING CAN BE BENEIFICAL IN HELPING DEACTIVE OVER-ACTIVE MUSCLE AND FURTHER FACILITATE UNDER-ACTIVE MUSCLES THROUGH THE NERVOUS SYSTEM.

CUPPING

CUPPING THERAPY IS THE USE OF GLASS OR PLASTIC CUPS THAT USE "NEGATIVE PRESSURE" ALONG THE SKIN TO HELP SUBTLEY LIFT THE UNDERLYING FASCIA OFF THE MUSCLES BENEATH.

THIS HELPS PROMOTE BLOOD FLOW, REMOVES STAGNANT BLOOD FROM THE AREA, INCREASES RANGE OF MOVEMENT AND DECREASES PAIN AND STIFFNESS. ONE OF THE MAIN OUTCOMES YOU MAY SEE IS THE MARKS LEFT BY CUPS.

THESE MARKS CAN LAST ANYWHERE BETWEEN 1-3 DAYS AND ARE NOT PAINFUL. CUPPING CAN BE APPLIED IN BOTH STATIC AND ACTIVE MEASURES (KNOWN AS FUNCTIONAL RELEASE CUPPING).

JOINT MOBILISATION IS THE TECHNIQUE OF WHICH WE BOTH PASSIVELY AND ACTIVELY ENGAGE THE DEEPER STRUCTURES SURROUNDING AND SUPPORTING A JOINT TO INCREASE THE RANGE OF MOTION A JOINT HAS TO AN OPTIMAL AND PAIN-FREE RANGE. IT IS USED TO HELP WITH STIFF OR "LOCKED" JOINTS, HYPOMOBILE JOINTS OR PAINFUL JOINTS.

THIS IS DONE BY A FEW DIFFERENT TYPES OF MOBILISATION TECHNIQUES, HOWEVER THE MOST COMMONLY USED MOBILISATIONS CAN BE GENTLE OSCILLATIONS OR TRACTION/DISTRACTION TECHNIQUES.

THESE ARE GENERALLY MINIAL TO NO PAIN AND CAN ACHIEVE VERY QUICK RESULTS.

M.E.T

ALSO KNOWN AS MUSCLE ENERGY TECHNIQUE, THIS IS A SUBTLE MANUAL THERAPY TECHNIQUE WHICH USES A MUSCLE’S OWN ENERGY IN THE FORM OF A GENTLE ISOMETRIC (AGAINST A RESISTED FORCE) CONTRACTION TO THEN RELAX AND LENGTHEN THE MUSCLE.

THE AFFECTED SIDE OF A MUSCLE/LIMB IS MOVED TO IT'S END RANGE OF RESISTANCE, THE PATIENT THEN CONTRACTS TO THAT SIDE AT AROUND

10-20% FOR A SMALL TIME FRAME, THEY THEN RELAX AND THE PRACTITIONER WILL MANOUVRE THE PATIENT TO A NEW END RANGE AND REPEAT THE PROCESS 2 -3 TIMES.

THIS TECHNIQUE REQUIRES MINIMAL PATIENT PARTICIPATION, IS LOW RISK FOR PAIN AND ACHIEVES GOOD RESULTS QUICKLY.

I'M A LOCAL GAL, BORN AND BRED IN CASTLEMAINE JUST 25 MINS FROM BENDIGO AND HAVE A BIG PASSION FOR LOCAL COMMUNITY HEALTH.

AFTER GRADUATING WITH AN ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN MYOTHERAPY AND REMEDIAL THERAPY FROM RMIT IN 2013, MY PASSION FOR HELPING PEOPLE GAIN AND MAINTAIN THEIR HEALTH AND WELLBEING TO IT'S MOST OPTIMAL HAS GROWN STRONGLY.

I'VE ALSO BEEN A BIG PART OF THE ARTS AND MUSIC IN THE LAST FEW YEARS WORKING WITH THE GROOVIN' THE MOO TEAM AS THE ARTIST'S MASSEUSE.
